This directory lists playgrounds that have inclusive and accessible features. Yes, we would all love to have the perfect inclusive playground in our neighborhood. But we know that is not reality. Here you can find the best of the best as well as playgrounds that have added accessible swing seats or other accessible feature.

We know that it is difficult to push a wheelchair through wood mulch (EWF) and we have done our best to let you know about the surfacing.

In the BIO section, you will find a description of the playground. In the NOTES section, you will find information about the park the playground resides.

All of the playgrounds (at the time of publication) are open to the public. Any of the playgrounds located at schools, you can assume are open afterschool and on weekends. You may want to call the school to check on the opening times.

We have done our best to give as much information as we can find to describe the playgrounds. But we cannot visit all of these playgrounds, so please let us know what we are missing by submitting the park using the button below.

Biography Lake Waterford Park & Adaptive Recreation Complex is located on the corner of Pasadena Road and Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard. This community park is 108 acres of diverse recreational and natural areas.There is a 12-acre lake where you may enjoy observing the waterfowl or doing a little shoreline fishing. Lake Waterford Park offers three pavilions that can be reserved in advance for large groups. Come enjoy playing on the “Boundless” playground nestled in the picnic area. Additional activities available in the park: tennis, basketball, football, softball and natural trails for hiking. The new adaptive recreation athletic field, Freedom Field has been completed and is scheduled by permit only. The adaptive recreation baseball field includes a multipurpose field overlay, which is covered with a rubberized, wheelchair accessible surface. The field will be utilized for Recreation and Parks adaptive recreation programs and accommodate a variety of activities, to include baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, track and field, and other fun activities and events. ADA parking and pathways will be installed to provide a high level of accessibility.

The park is located on the Eastern Shore, two miles east of Denton, off RT. 404, on Deep Shore Road in Caroline County.

NGSP offers access to the 13 acre lake, along with some picnic areas, camping, restroom facilities and pavillions. The park is five miles southeast of Grantsville, in the heart of the Savage River State Forest

They are located in: 1) the Hilton Area near the accessible Camp Shower Building; 2) the Avalon Area next to accessible Shelter #104 near the accessible Comfort Station; and 3) the McKeldin Area between accessible Group Shelters #508 and 512 and near the accessible Comfort Station. After playing on the playground in the Avalon Area you can take a walk on the scenic Grist Mill Trail, a 1.5 mile paved multi-purpose trail along the Patapsco River. The park is located in Ellicott City.

This park has 7 accessible playgrounds. Five are located at the East Beach area, while the other two are located at the South Beach Area near the accessible Beach Bath Houses. Sandy Point State Park also offers accessible amenities, including: food and beverage concession, fishing, picnic areas, shelters, bathhouses, and sailing concessionaire. The park is in Anne Arundel County, at the western terminus of the Bay Bridge, off U.S. Routes 50/301 at exit 32.

The park is located in Montgomery County.

Children ages 5-12 can enjoy climbing walls, zip lines, a ten-tire bouncer, tire swings, a fish music wall and much more. Through a cooperative project between the Maryland Department of Environment, Maryland Environmental Service, and DNR, funding was made available for the construction of a community built tire playground at Smallwood. In a four day period, a playground with the theme of fish and history was created. The playground entrance features art murals by Mattawoman Creek Art Center artists Bob Kenyon and Gene McCandless, and the fishing theme can be seen throughout the playground as over 65 hand-painted fish dot every piece of equipment. More than half of the structures are accessible to children with disabilities.

There is also an accessible trail (The Greenways Trail) from Conowingo to Stafford Road. The park is in Harford County, three miles northwest of Havre de Grace, off RT. 155, 35 miles from Baltimore.
