This directory lists playgrounds that have inclusive and accessible features. Yes, we would all love to have the perfect inclusive playground in our neighborhood. But we know that is not reality. Here you can find the best of the best as well as playgrounds that have added accessible swing seats or other accessible feature.

We know that it is difficult to push a wheelchair through wood mulch (EWF) and we have done our best to let you know about the surfacing.

In the BIO section, you will find a description of the playground. In the NOTES section, you will find information about the park the playground resides.

All of the playgrounds (at the time of publication) are open to the public. Any of the playgrounds located at schools, you can assume are open afterschool and on weekends. You may want to call the school to check on the opening times.

We have done our best to give as much information as we can find to describe the playgrounds. But we cannot visit all of these playgrounds, so please let us know what we are missing by submitting the park using the button below.

Notes Carpenter Park, located at 3498 E. 112th Ave., directly behind the Carpenter Recreation Center, is open to the public daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. In addition to the playground, there is a splashground, a boat house, a carousel, skatepark and trails. Sports facilities include: Basketball Courts Bocce Ball Horseshoe Pits–Please bring your own equipment. Shuffleboard–Please bring your own equipment. Sand Volleyball Courts–Please bring your own volleyball. Net is provided. Lighted Tennis Courts Biography With multiple playstructures—an Evos® playsystem, a Weevos® playsystem and a PlayBooster® playstructure—kids of all ages and abilities will enjoy an imaginative play area that invites endless activity. Along with extensive ramping, a truly inclusive experience is achieved with the addition of Freestanding elements including the Sway Fun® Glider, the Sensory Play Center®, the Cozy Dome® and more. Notes The playground is located in front of the Field House. This new state-of-the-art recreational facility features a tournament gym in the center that includes two high school basketball courts, four youth basketball courts, and four volleyball courts, all with sprung athletic wood floors. A net surrounds the courts to separate it from the walk/run track. Within the courts are four, quadrant nets to section off courts to allow for simultaneous play and when the nets are down, space can be rented out for community events. The design also includes wet and dry changing rooms, lockers, and a child watch space. A staff request for ample storage to allow for program flexibility was met. Fieldhouse hours: Hours Monday – Thursday 5:00 am – 8:00 pm Friday 5:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Biography Opened in 2021. Surfacing is pour-in-place rubber. There is a wheelchair glider, a ramped structure, and social and sensory activities. The splash pad is located directly next to the playground.

Biography This is a Shane’s Inspiration Playground with equipment from Landscape Structures. The playground consultant on the project was Rocky Mountain Recreation. The complete park boasts 100 acres nestled against the foothills of western Fort Collins. The park includes: a 2+ acre dog park complete with a lake for our doggie paddling pals,a free ride course for endless mountain biking fun, picnic shelters, trails, open turf areas, ballfields, lighted basketball and tennis courts, Art in Public Places projects, and scenic landscapes. The park has with easy access to Cottonwood Glen Neighborhood Park and Pine Ridge Natural Area. Spring Canyon Community Park also plays a key role in connecting Fort Collins hard surface trail system as Spring Creek Trail and Fossil Creek Trail connect at the park. There are parking lots at either end of the park; on the north side at Overland Trail and the south side at Horsetooth Road.

Biography The mission of Kids’ Park Lafayette is to provide a safe, accessible, learning and recreational environment to people of ALL ages and ALL abilities. There are two accessible playgrounds divided by age groups. In addition to the accessible playgrounds, there is an accessible Sensory Botanical Garden on the grounds of Lafayette Elementary School which stimulates the senses through use of flowers and plants (sight and smell), musical instruments, chimes, and seed pods (hearing), textured plants (touch), and edible herbs (taste).

Biography Key features of the playground which opened in 2015 include areas of music, motion, and sanctuary such as sensory elements with drums, xylophones, and a boat that sways; a slide equipped to eliminate static electricity that can inhibit the play experience for students with cochlear implants; and visual panels with letters, numbers, and puzzles that include braille. The playground also features an area for outdoor experiential learning, including sandblasted animal footprints and a garden area with plants for identification and discovery.

Pikes Peak Ave.) Prospect Lake and Bath House: swimming beach, boating (motorized and non-motorized), two fishing areas (one wheelchair accessible fishing dock). Mark “Pa” Sertich Ice Center: public ice skating, lessons. Velodrome: bicycle racing track, roller skate racing track. Biography The city of Aurora’s Red-tailed Hawk Park is the first inclusive playground in the city. This 8,000-square-foot inclusive playground is brought to life with features like a sensory garden, play equipment, musical instruments and other sensory experiences through sound, color, texture and movement that children of all abilities have the opportunity to enjoy. Play equipment includes swings, spinners, zip-line, slides and so much more all accessible to kids in wheelchairs and walkers. This inclusive playground is gathering place that invites and inspires smiles, fun and laughs for all children to enjoy together.

This commercial playground equipment is installed near the Children’s Hospital Therapy Clinic, and is used by patients and their siblings, families and the entire community of Broomfield. The PlayBooster® playstructure features sand play elements, auditory and musical activities, swings, sensory-rich play panels, spinners and an accessible ramped playstructure for kids ages 5 to 12. Biography A 100% universally accessible playground that was designed with the assistance of Shane’s Inspiration, a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, CA that specializes in universally accessible playground design. It has a PlayBooster® playstructure which brings nature right into the playground. With lots of unique components like the log slide, log crawl tunnel, Natural Climbers and the custom flower shade structure. There are accessible pathways and rubber surfacing; cozy spots where children can gather; harnessed swings with back support; and elevated sand tables and activity panels. The play area also includes accessible picnic areas and family-style restrooms. The playground equipment Landscape Structures Inc. and was built by Rocky Mountain Recreation.
