This directory lists playgrounds that have inclusive and accessible features. Yes, we would all love to have the perfect inclusive playground in our neighborhood. But we know that is not reality. Here you can find the best of the best as well as playgrounds that have added accessible swing seats or other accessible feature.

We know that it is difficult to push a wheelchair through wood mulch (EWF) and we have done our best to let you know about the surfacing.

In the BIO section, you will find a description of the playground. In the NOTES section, you will find information about the park the playground resides.

All of the playgrounds (at the time of publication) are open to the public. Any of the playgrounds located at schools, you can assume are open afterschool and on weekends. You may want to call the school to check on the opening times.

We have done our best to give as much information as we can find to describe the playgrounds. But we cannot visit all of these playgrounds, so please let us know what we are missing by submitting the park using the button below.

Biography Mikey’s Place has two primary playscapes. The one for smaller children feels like it goes on forever and is in a well fenced area with other equipment and activities. The playscape for older children is quite high, and features both some unique climbing options and a more gradual ascent that even a 2 year old can manage. Note: The surfacing is a combination of Pour-in-Place rubber and wood mulch (EWF) which may make it more difficult for a person using a wheelchair to maneuver throughout the playground. Biography This is a Boundless Playground. In addition to the playground, the park hosts a class “A” little league field and a class “A” baseball field, hiking trails, a picnic pavilion with a full kitchen, fishing pier, sand volleyball courts.

Biography This playground is a testament to the determination of a parent in championing its development, and the creativity of a landscape architect in integrating the playground into a beautiful, wooded hillside. Working with the playground designers at Landscape Structures, landscape architect, Phil Barlow, and the folks at Boundless Playgrounds®, the parent designed an enormous 25,000 square-foot playground that is unlike anything else. At the crest of the playground is a wheelchair-accessible tree house featuring an enclosed deck that is used by teachers to host classes. Cascading down from this vantage point is a series of play areas linked by walkways and poured-in place surfacing. Two bridges overlook a man made stream and waterfall, a picnic area protected by CoolToppers® shade systems and a wheelchair maze constructed from hedges. The site also feataures a Sway Fun® glider that allows children of all abilities to experience a swinging motion along with all of their friends. The playground consultant on this project was O’Brien & Sons.
